Deputy Commissioner V. Ponnuraj had cancelled 71,526 domestic LPG connections in the district for not furnishing the necessary documents to the Department of Food and Civil Supplies.

With the intention to ensure availability of LPG cylinders in time for consumers in the district and to avoid its misuse, the consumers enjoying domestic LPG connections were asked to furnish suitable documents to the department. The department had expected 2,66,096 consumers to furnish photocopies of electricity bill, the LPG connection number, and ration card.

In all, 71,526 domestic LPG connections were cancelled for not furnishing necessary documents, a release said. The information on the LPG connections that were cancelled had been published at the gas agencies concerned.
