Vehicles, jewellery and other goods recovered

Bangalore: The Bangalore North Division police have solved 64 cases registered in various police stations and arrested 20 suspects.

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Commissioner of Police N. Achutha Rao said that eight were held on charges of extortion and robbing people, while 12 were arrested on charges of vehicle theft.

“With their arrest, seven cases of robbery, one theft and 56 vehicle theft cases have been solved. We have also seized stolen goods worth Rs. 30.9 lakh from the accused,” he said.

The seized goods included 125 gm gold jewellery, seven mobile phones, 55 two-wheelers, a car, a lorry, an autorickshaw, electronic goods, including a laptop, two DVD players, a colour television, three wrist-watches, besides Rs. 10,000 in cash.


The RMC Yard police arrested B.S. Yogesh (22), B.D. Srinivas (20), Lakshmana (19), B.S. Shivakumar (20), B.K. Swamy (19) on charges of robbery. They said that the accused used to operate in an autorickshaw in the night, threaten passengers and take away valuables and money from them.

With their arrest, cases reported in Jalahalli, Kumaraswamy Layout, Jayanagar, Byatarayanapura, Kamakshipalya, and RMC Yard have been solved.

The police seized an autorickshaw, a laptop, five gold chains, nine gold rings, three wrist-watches, and five mobile phones worth Rs. 2.5 lakh from the accused.

Two persons were arrested on charges of stealing a lorry from RMC Yard police station limits.

The names of the arrested were given as Kandaswamy (34) and Shiva (24) of Salem district, Tamil Nadu.

The police said that the accused used to steal parked lorries, dismantle them and sell the spare parts. Cases have been booked against them in police stations in Salem district.

The RMC Yard police arrested three persons on charges of vehicle theft.

Their names were given as T. Range Gowda (28), Keertiraj (23) and Srinivas (21). The police seized six motor vehicles and two mobile phones, worth Rs. 6 lakh from the accused. With their arrest, the police have solved cases registered at Nelamangala, Peenya, and RMC Yard police stations. The police said the accused used to steal vehicles from parking lots.

Held on dacoity charge

The Yeshwantpur police arrested B. Niranjan Murthy (42), H.M. Venkatesh (24) and S.E. Ravi (28) on charges of committing dacoity. The police seized a two-wheeler, jewellery worth Rs. 70,000 and Rs. 10,000 in cash from them.

The J.C. Nagar police arrested three persons and seized three two-wheelers worth Rs. 1.15 lakh from them.

The names of the arrested were given as Sayyed Akbar (20), Sadiq (19) and Sayyed Khalid (19).

With their arrest, cases registered in K.G. Halli, Halasoor and R.T. Nagar police stations have been solved.
