200 surveillance cameras to keep watch on tourist spots
With just three days left for the Dasara to begin, the Mysore police are putting in place an elaborate security cover, besides making arrangements for effective traffic management.
A 6,227-strong police force, including officers of the rank of Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police, and Police Inspectors from the city and neighbouring districts, will be deployed for the Dasara security arrangements.
Also, 12 Anti-Sabotage Squads will be deployed to check event venues and monitor suspicious elements for the safety of visitors.
The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad of State Intelligence had been deputed here on September 25 and the squad will be stationed here until the festivities conclude.
Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, Police Commissioner M.A. Saleem said 2,525 police personnel from Mysore city; 2,313 police personnel from neighbouring districts; 461 traffic police from Bangalore city; 28 reserve police officers; 25 platoons of KSRP and 20 platoons of CAR (total 900), and 1,200 Home Guards will be on security duty. Besides, 400 NCC cadets and 50 private security guards have been roped in, he said.
