CHAMARAJANAGAR: With 129 candidates unanimously elected to various gram panchayats in the district, 5,399 candidates are in the fray for 1,894 seats in 120 gram panchayats in Chamarajanagar district.

A total of 7,489 nominations papers were filed in the district, of which 1,770 were withdrawn and 160 declared invalid.

Thirty-eight gram panchayat seats in the district will have no representative, following the decision of the residents of Kuratti Hosur and Kuderu Gram panchayats to boycott the elections in protest against the lack of basic amenities.

Unanimous

In Chamarajanagar taluk 39 candidates, in Gudlupet taluk 46, in Kollegal taluk 33,and in Yelandur taluk 11 candidates were unanimously elected to various gram panchayats.
