In all, 3,840 students in Shimoga district will appear for the Common Entrance Test for admission to professional courses that will be held on April 27 and 28.
The CET will be held at eight centres in the district which include five centres in the city, two in Bhadravati and one in Sagar.
The DVS Independent PU College will see 672 students write the test, while it will be 624 students at DVS Composite PU College, 416 students at Government PU College, and 352 students at JPN College in the city limits.
In Bhadravati, 256 students each will attend the CET at Government PU College, New Town area and at Government PU College of Tarikere Road.
In Sagar, 560 students will appear for CET at Government PU College.
Deputy Director of Pre University Education Nagaraj said the district administration had deputed a observer for each centre.
The department has deployed two observers for each centre.
Mobile squads were formed at taluk-level to prevent malpractice during the examination, he added.
