The Bruhat Lok Adalat was held throughout the day here on Saturday, the last day of the drive that began in the district on November 6. As per information gathered from sources in the court here, 3,348 cases were settled in the adalats as on November 22.

The Lok Adalat courts functioned across the district on Saturday. As many as 819 compoundable criminal cases were settled, while 359 cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act were decided. As many as 1,478 criminal and other cases were solved during the Lok Adalat sessions, sources said.

An amount of Rs. 1.09 crore was paid in the form of compensation to aggrieved persons pertaining to 85 motor vehicle cases. Four cases related to maintenance, three matrimonial cases and one related to local bodies dispute were settled.

dThe cases were handled in 26 courts in Mysore city, apart from courts in six taluk centres. Apart from this, as many as 42 PLC (pre-litigation cases) cases were also settled in the adlats.

The president of the Mysore Bar Association, C. Basavaraj, told The Hindu that the Lok Adalat drive was a big success and the total number of cases settled could easily cross the 4,500-mark. The statistics, however, would be available only on Monday.
