DHARWAD: The officials of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies carried out surprise checks of vehicles in the twin cities on Friday to check misuse of domestic LPG cylinders.

Two teams of the officials carried out the checks and 26 cylinders used in vehicles were seized and cases registered. While 14 cases were detected during the drive in Dharwad, 11 cases came to light in Hubli.

Cases have been booked under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act.

The drive was carried out with the assistance of officers from the Regional Transport Office, and sales officers of oil marketing companies, according to a press release. .
