Belgaum: The Centre has sanctioned 23 special schools with the objective of rehabilitating child labourers in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Shalini Rajneesh said the responsibility of running these schools would be entrusted to voluntary organisations. All the schools would be opened in the next 15 days, she said while presiding over a meeting here on Monday. Each school would have two teachers and other staff. Even doctors would be appointed on a honorary basis to extend healthcare to the child of the schools.
