Bangalore city in-charge Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu on Thursday told the Legislative Council that about 30 tanks in Bangalore Urban District would be rejuvenated during this financial year.

Replying to Janata Dal (Secular) member M. Srinivas during Question Hour, the Minister said these tanks would be fenced and cleared of encroachments.

He said Bangalore Urban district had 937 tanks with a total area of 26,468 acres. Of this, 842 tanks with an area of 22,748 acres had been surveyed and encroached area had been identified. The survey had showed that 1,848 acres of tank area had been encroached by 2,488 persons. Of this, 672 acres had been cleared of encroachments. The remaining 95 tanks were yet to be surveyed.
