More than 1,300 students and 200 teachers and science convenors are expected to take part in the three-day 20th State-level children’s science convention scheduled to be organised in Madikeri from November 23.

According to an official release, Deputy Commissioner N.V. Prasad announced this in Madikeri on Wednesday. Children in the age group of 10 to 17 would gather information, prepare scientific projects and present them at the convention on “Shakti — Anveshisi, Balasi, Ulisi”, he said. This would enhance the skills of the students relating to invention, research, and help them shape up as future scientists, Dr. Prasad said.

The first 30 best teams here would be picked to represent the State in the national-level convention slated for December 27 to January 5, 2013, in Varanasi.

Legislative Assembly Speaker K.G. Bopaiah would inaugurate the programme.
