Hike in registration fee decried
The district unit of the BJP has condemned the move by the Congress-led State government to increase the registration fee without any discussion with stakeholders or other political parties. After making the submission of a survey map before mutation necessary, the government has wronged the public by increasing the fee from Rs. 600 to Rs. 1,500 in rural areas and Rs. 2,500 in urban areas, said the party in a release. With the district having fragmented landholdings, multiple mutations become a long and expensive procedure in case of handing over the land to multiple persons (for example, inheritance to children), said the release.
