Non-teaching employees of Yogi Vemana University here called off their week-long strike following fruitful discussions on the demands, YVU Registrar M. Ramakrishna Reddy said on Friday.

The university authorities agreed to constitute a committee to examine the demands to continue the services of 31 employees who were recently regularised, to grant house rent allowance to time-scale employees and enhance wages of non-muster roll and free food workers in discussions held with the non-teaching employees’ welfare association in the Registrar’s office, Prof. Reddy said in a statement.

However, officials clarified that the demands were not acceptable as per rules, he said.

The authorities agreed to the categorisation of outsourced employees, the Registrar said and urged the striking staff to end their protest and attend to their duties.
