YSR Congress Party district convener Kakani Govardhan Reddy has advised leaders of the Congress and the Telugu Desam parties to gracefully accept the verdict of Kovur voters instead of continuing their baseless allegations and comments.

A festive atmosphere prevailed at the gathering of YSRCP activists and leaders at Mr. Govardhan Reddy's residence here on Thursday. Leaders from different parts of Kovur Assembly segment and other places in the district came to celebrate the victory in Kovur.

Coming down heavily on the rival parties, the YSRCP leaders asserted that the people's support to their party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy would continue in the same way as was evident from the comfortable victory in Kovur segment despite stiff opposition from other parties.

Refute allegations

Mr. Govardhan Reddy and other leaders, who addressed a press conference later, refuted the allegations of corruption against Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy by rival parties.

They pointed out that the people did not give any value to such baseless allegations that were made by leaders of rival parties during election campaign.

‘No tall claims made'

Replying to a question, Mr. Govardhan Reddy clarified that their party had never made tall claims about the majority their candidate would get in Kovur and that their leadership would not be made responsible for any betting resorted to by anybody anywhere in the State or elsewhere. But it was a fact that their party nominee would have got a greater majority if the Congress and TDP did not use cash in the by-poll, he added.

The YSRCP leaders reiterated their confidence that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy would become the Chief Minister and for achieving this objective, all the leaders of their party would make untiring efforts in coordination with the cadres.
