The YSR Congress on Wednesday condemned the Congress party at the Centre for going ahead with bifurcation of the State despite severe opposition from a majority of people.

“While the resolutions sent by Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra seeking bifurcation of their States have been pending for a long time, the Congress-led UPA government is in a hurry to divide Andhra Pradesh unilaterally without giving a chance to the Assembly to adopt a resolution though 75 per cent of the people are in favour of a unified State,” said the party senior leader Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy.

He demanded that the undemocratic process of bifurcation should be stopped and the Centre should review its decision immediately as it would go against the interests of the people. The process had gained momentum at a time when the Congress performance was dismal in the State and was on the brink of utter defeat, he said.
