Demanding that the State government allocate sufficient funds for the completion of the Eleru modernization project, members of the YSR Congress Party are going to take a ‘Padayatra’ from the project site to Pithapuram from March 13. The demand was to complete the modernization project at the earliest, so that farmers from upland mandals would get sufficient irrigation.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, party’s central governing committee member Jyothula Nehru said that the State government was postponing sanction of budget time and again for the project, due to which the farmers were suffering a lot. He said the party was keen on early completion of the project.

“Our agitation is coinciding with the budget session of the Legislative Assembly.

After completing the yatra in Pithapuram on March 20, we will submit a memorandum to party’s honorable president Y.S. Vijayalakshmi, so that she would raise the issue in Assembly,” he said.
