Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha has asked youth to play a key role to check corruption and recalled how agitations by youth in 1970s and ‘90s pulled down the Congress governments at the Centre.
At a meeting on anti-corruption here on Wednesday, BJYM national secretary P.V.N. Madhav, while recalling the role played by youth prior to Emergency and later during late Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao's rule on corruption, said a single family that was ruling the country since Independence was responsible for the corruption. “Even Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is working in the shadow of AICC president Sonia Gandhi,” Mr. Madhav said. State Morcha secretary G. Srinivasa Rao criticised the Congress for the number of scams and called upon youth to form committees at village-level and educate people on corruption, including 2G, Adarsh Housing and Common Wealth Games.
State BJP secretary Paka Raja Rao asked the youth to strengthen the party and develop leadership qualities as they alone have the potential to lead the nation in future. District president Pakalapati Sanyasi Raju appealed to participate in party programmes in future.
