KARIMNAGAR: The district Youth Congress leaders have refused to participate in the party membership enrolment programme till Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy was appointed as Chief Minister of the State.
Participating in the teleconference programme organised by APCC president D. Srinivas at the party office here on Thursday, a district Youth Congress leader demanded that the APCC president take measures for appointment of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy as Chief Minister. “We are unable to go to the people and participate in the enrolment of members as the people are demanding that Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy be the Chief Minister”, he said.
During the discussion, the telephone line was disconnected and on seeing the electronic media cameras, the leaders intensified their sloganeering.
Earlier, APCC leader T. Niranjan, former DCC president T. Santosh Kumar, DCC leaders Chalimeda Laxminarasimha Rao, town Congress president Kanne Krishna and others participated in the teleconference.
They said that they could complete only 40 per cent of enrolment against the target of 3 lakh.
They promised to take up special drive from October 2 to 15 and achieve the target enrolment.
