HYDERABAD: Reportedly dejected over the rejection of their marriage proposal by family elders, a young man and woman ended their life by injecting poisonous chemicals at Takara street in Secunderabad, the Market police said on Tuesday.
Mounika (24) and Charles Bronson (22), who hailed from Kothagudem of Khammam district and were living in the same street knew each other from childhood. “Our inquiries revealed that they fell in love. Elders of both families were aware of it and fought over the matter on some occasions,” the Market Inspector Tulasi Ram Prasad said. Two years ago, Mounika shifted to the city after getting a nurse’s job in a hospital and was living with her elder brother Rakesh’s family in Secunderabad.
Recently, Bronson too came to Hyderabad to pursue Intermediate from which he dropped out a few years ago. He was living with his sister at Jubilee Hills.
Police said the youngsters apparently got frustrated after their families turned down their marriage proposal. Bronson reportedly met Mounika when no one was there in her house on Monday evening.
Mounika’s relatives who returned home around 7.30 p.m. saw the two of them lying unconscious in the front room. Needles and disposable syringes found near the two bodies suggested that they might have injected some chemical substances themselves. They were rushed to a corporate hospital but were declared brought dead. No suicide note was found.
A case of suspicious death under Section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code was registered.
