Members of the Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI), Ukkunagaram unit, had loads of fun during a family camping organised at Teli Neelapuram, a bird sanctuary in Srikakulam district, about 165 from here, on Sunday.
The place is famous for pelicans and painted storks from Siberia during September-March. It is a paradise for bird observers.
According to researchers in Andhra University, the birds have been following this aerial route for several years. The migratory movement was first noticed over 15 years ago.
The family outing was organised by YHAI-Ukkunagaram vice-president M. Krishna Murthy along with his team. The event was flagged off by State honorary secretary of YHAI N. Nageswara Rao. As part of the programme, a ‘flying lantern’ was lit by RINL DGM P. Balachandra Rao.
