Over two lakh people participate in ‘annadanam’ at Nimmada

Actor and Telugu Desam leader Nandamuri Balakrishna on Wednesday said the party would take a decision after consulting all the leaders regarding political successor of former MP K.Yerrannaidu who was killed in a road accident two weeks ago. Mr. Balakrishnaalong with Nara Lokesh Nama Nageswara Rao, Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, Kadiyam Srihari.

Tummala Nageswara Rao and others paid rich tributes to Yerran Naidu at Nimmada in Santabommali mandal of Srikakulam district.

Mr. Balakrishna and Mr. Lokesh and others garlanded Yerrannaidu’s statue in the village and later spoke at the condolence meeting.

They said the State had lost a great leader who dedicated his life for the welfare of the downtrodden sections and Backward Classes.

A few speakers urged the government to name the district as Yerrannaidu district.

The party leaders and family members of Yerrannaidu organised ‘annadanam’ to over two lakh people in the village on the occasion of ‘Dwadasa Dinakarma’. Thousands of party activists and others from remote places of North Andhra districts attended for the programme.

Some 350 police personnel monitored the traffic and arrangements in Nimmada village.

As many as 210 counters were set up to complete ‘annadanam’ in a systematic manner. A photo exhibition was also organised to remember achievements and activities of Yerrannaidu in the last 30 years.

Huge turnout at ‘anadanam’ programme remembered everyone about Yerrannaidu’s image and relations he maintained till his last breath.

Many local leaders felt that Yerrannaidu’s son Rammohan was likely to be his political successor. Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu may announce his name officially very soon.
