A regional workshop on the problems of the fishermen will be conducted in the city on Friday. The programme will be held at Kirana Merchants Association Hall near Pindala Chruvu at 2 p.m. Fishermen from nine coastal districts will participate in the workshop to discuss at length the impact of industrial development on the coastline on the livelihood of fishermen. Issues related to sea pollution and new norms imposed by the government on fishing will also be discussed.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has taken the initiative to conduct the programme to highlight the problems of the fishermen. Party Polit Bureau Member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and other leaders will address the fishermen.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, former MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao (Konda Babu) said that an action plan would be chalked out to fight against the anti-fishermen policies being implemented by the government and to fight for protecting the environment and the livelihood of the fishermen.
