Works to provide drinking water to the residents of Halia town in his constituency will be taken shortly at a cost of Rs.8 crore, Panchayat Raj Minister K. Jana Reddy said on Saturday.

Speaking informally to press persons after laying the foundation stone for a 132/33 KV sub-station at Yerraballi village in Nidamanur mandal, he said the tender process for the water supply scheme has been completed.

The Minister said the sub-station would help reduce the overload problems of farmers and pave the way for supply of quality power in Nidamanur, Tripuraram and Halia mandals. He laid the foundation for Govardhanammagudam-Kasturigudam road to be laid at a cost of Rs.2 lakh. Mr. Reddy inaugurated a 30-bed hospital at Halia costing Rs.1.4 crore.
