An estimated 3.23 lakh children aged between 0 years and fiver years were administered with the pulse polio immunisation drops across the district on Sunday.

The drops were given at 1,710 centres by 7,400 team members and 1,923 Aasha workers.

About 170 supervisors were deployed to inspect the day-long programme.

After administering drops to a child at the RTC bus depot here, Collector D. Varaprasad said that it was everyone's responsibility to ensure that polio drops are given to all children and extend full co-operation to the government in building a polio-free society.

According to District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Harinath, drops were given to 83.5 per cent children by Sunday evening.

In the remaining two days the target to reach 100 per cent will be complete, he said.
