Anantapur: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah held a teleconference with Collector B.Janardhan Reddy and other district officials on introducing farm mechanisation techniques and initiating measures to achieve high crop yields on Friday. Minister for Agriculture N.Raghuveera Reddy, Rural Development Minister V.Vasanth Kumar and Secretary, Department of Agriculture Rachael Chatterjee were also present.

Mr.Rosaiah stated that 65 per cent of people in the State depended on agriculture and paramount importance should be given to boost food production. He stated that due to distress conditions faced by farmers the average food grains production declined from 204 lakh metric tonnes to 153 lakh metric tonnes. He called upon all concerned to work for the realisation of the State target by achieving 209 lakh metric tonnes in the current rabi and kharif crop year. He also asked the officials to gear up for the Rythu Chaitanya Yatras beginning from May 17 to June 2.
