‘Complete Arogyasri works on a war-footing’
A women and child ward has been sanctioned in the district headquarters hospital here with an outlay of Rs.10 crore, Neethu Prasad, district Collector and Chairman of the hospital development society has said.
Addressing the society members on Tuesday, she said proposals were being sent to the government to increase the bed strength from 250 to 350.
The Collector directed engineers of the Andhra Pradesh Medical Infrastructure Corporation to complete Arogyasri ward works on a war-footing and arrange also arrange for mortuary cabinets in the hospital.
She said corporate companies would be approached to provide medical equipment in the hospital under corporate social responsibility. Provision of dialysis unit under public-private partnership was also under consideration and steps were taken to fill vacancies of doctors in the hospital, she added.
Ms. Neetu Prasad also said speed-breakers on the main road in front of the hospital was essential. This would be entrusted to the R&B and the Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation.
Rajahmundry MLA Routhu Suryaprakasa Rao said delay in Arogyasri ward works was causing inconvenience to patients. Mortuary cabinets should also be fixed immediately, he added.
A.M. Sulochana, Medical Superintendent, explained members about the steps taken for the development of the hospital and urged the society to extend the services of outsourced employees for another year.
