The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has demanded that the State and Central governments should withdraw the decision allocating mines of Telangana region to the Visakhapatnam steel factory immediately.
The TRS district president T. Ravinder Rao, MLAs M. Bikshapathi, T. Rajaiah and D. Vinay Bhaskar said that the governments should plan to set up a steel factory in Khammam, Karimnagar or Warangal district and provide employment to scores of youth.
“The TRS party came into existence to fight the injustice done to the region. Resources are exploited and employment opportunities are denied to the local youth. Despite the ongoing separate Telangana movement, the Congress government dared to continue its discrimination,” they said.
Telangana region was suitable for setting up a steel factory as the districts particularly Karimnagar, Khammam and Warangal were endowed with natural resources, water and transport facilities.
Instead of developing the region, the government was trying to divert the natural resources from the region to develop Andhra and Rayalaseema regions which was against the sentiments of the people.
The TRS party would launch a strong agitation if the State government failed to stall the proposals allocating thousands of acres of land for mining iron ore to develop Visakhapatnam Steel Factory.
The ruling party leaders- MLAs, MPs and Ministers- should own the responsibility and protect the interests of Telangana people.
“Congress leaders of the region should meet the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and the Central government Ministers and try to stall the proposals immediately,” the TRS MLAs demanded.
