The CPI and CPI (M) have demanded that the State government withdraw power surcharges being imposed on consumers. Both the parties warned that they would be forced to resume Basheerbag type fight again.
A seminar on power crisis was held here on Friday which was attended by CPI senior leader Chada Venkata Reddy.
Addressing the participants, Mr. Venkata Reddy said that the people in the State were suffering as the government had lost vision resulting in allowing the private sector to sell power to other States.
“The government had promised power before the elections but failed to deliver its promise. Time has come to teach the government a lesson,” he said.
CPI (M) district committee member A. Mallesh said that a large number of labourers lost their jobs due to power cuts.
The programme was presided over by CPI (M) leader G. Jayaraj and CPI leader Manda Pawan.
