The short track is challenging as it has sharp turns, mud roads and a unique topography
The scene outside the race track at Shriram Panorama Hills where the Vizag Autocross took place on Sunday resembled a scene from a Hollywood movie. Cars that take you from work to home daily were transformed into race cars with stickers and number badges.
Drivers wearing helmets and sporting t-shirts with logos of famous car companies took the wheel. For those trying their hand at it for the first time, the track took a little time to get used to. Those who entered the competition hoping to win it as they had the fastest car soon realised that the event was all about driving skill and not speed. The short track was challenging as it had sharp turns, mud roads and a unique topography.
The race was more about racing with yourself than racing with others. Each driver got a chance to go around the track and set timings.
The fastest to complete a lap won. This ensured that it was a safe event and drivers were penalised by the race marshals for hitting cones and flags.
It was also a place for auto enthusiasts to flaunt their beloved cars,
This is the second autocross to be held in the city and judging from the spectators the event has found flavour with Vizagites.
