In pursuit of its policy to promote literacy at all levels, the Singareni Employees’ Wives Association (SEWA) has introduced a pre-primary teacher training programme for the unemployed women belonging to the families of Singareni workmen and retired workmen in the corporate area.
The job-oriented course of six months duration will be conducted by the Rajendranagar-based Khadi Gramodyog Mahavidyalaya. The minimum eligibility for the course is a pass in SSC.
It has been introduced for the first time in the corporate area of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). The move is intended to enable the eligible women of Singareni workers and retired workers’ families acquire the requisite teaching skills for taking up jobs as pre-primary teachers in various educational institutions.
The pre-primary teacher training programme was launched at the Singareni Collieries High School in Kothagudem on Friday.
In his inaugural address, SCCL General Manager (personnel) K.B.S. Sagar hailed the initiative of the SEWA in introducing the job- oriented training programme in collaboration with the Khadi Gramodyog Mahavidyalaya for the benefit of the eligible women of the SCCL corporate area. He exhorted the women, those enrolled for the programme, to successfully complete the course, explore the enormous job opportunities in the pre-primary schools and pursue a career in teaching.
“This is not only a good opportunity to become economically independent but also serve the cause of society through the noble profession of teaching,” he remarked. SEWA corporate area coordinating officer A Buchi Prasad, secretary K. Suma Bhanu, representative of various trade unions, including the recognised union, were present.
