A total number of 3,723 teachers – 2,215 in Vizianagaram division and 1,508 in Parvathipuram division – will exercise their franchise in the elections for MLC teachers’ constituency in the district on Thursday.
The polling will be held from 8 am to 4 pm. The district administration has made adequate arrangements at all the polling stations. The entire district has been divided into 11 zones. Police made elaborate bandobust at all polling stations. The new edition to the polling is live webcasting. Some 24 JNTU (K) College of Engineering students will oversee it.
In-charge Collector P.A. Sobha inspected trial run of webcasting on Wednesday morning at National Informatics Centre at the Collectorate and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has provided broadband connectivity at 34 polling stations and in the remaining two polling stations wireless sets have been arranged. This is for the first time in the district the polling process has been linked with NIC.
