The Andhra Pradesh Weavers' Welfare Association has urged the President's intervention in getting assistance to the tune of Rs. 10,000 crore from the National Calamity Relief Fund to afford relief to weavers who were suffering from nature's fury, including cyclone and floods.

In a press release, association general secretary P. Lakshmanaswamy said they had sent a memorandum to the President Pratibha Patil, following which a communication was sent to the Union Home Ministry on January 21, asking for the required measures.

He expressed hope that the Home Ministry would take the necessary action.
