Monsoon vigorous over coastal A.P.

CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over coastal Andhra Pradesh and active over Telangana.

Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and over Lakshadweep, at many places over south interior Karnataka, at a few places over Kerala, North interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu.

The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in Centimetres: Nandigama 9, Koyyalagudem (west Godavari) 8, Gudivada, Nuzvid and Avanigadda (all Krishna dt), Satenapalli and Piduguralla (both Guntur dt), Kunavaram (Khammam dt) and Dharmasthala (Dakshina Kannada dt) 7 each.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in Centimetres are: Mangalagiri and Atchampet (Both Guntur dt), Narsipatnam (Visakhapatnam dt), Madhira (Cumbum dt), Armoor (Nizamabad dt), Agumbe, Sathanur dam (Thiruvannamalai dt) and Thiruvannamalai 6 each, Hosdurg (Kasargod dt), Repalle and Tenali (both Guntur dt), Guntur , Bapatla, Chintalapudi (West Godavari dt), Mancherial (Adilabad dt), Bheemgal (Nizamabad dt), Metpalli (Karimnagar dt), Narsampet (Warangal dt), Kundapur (Udupi dt), Kumta (Uttara Kannada dt), Bhagamandala (Kodagu dt) and Virudhunagar 5 each.

FORECAST (valid till Friday morning): Rain or thundershowers may occur at most places over coastal Karnataka, at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Kerala, Lakshadweep and interior Karnataka and at a few places over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Heavy rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain may occur over coastal Karnataka, Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana ghat areas of south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep during next 48 hours.
