The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders K.T. Rama Rao on Friday said that their party did not take the cooperative elections seriously as they were neither party-based nor ideology-based.
The ruling party supporters would generally have an edge over others in such elections, he observed.
Influence of money
“We did not do any exercise and make effort as these elections are based on intra-village farmers’ relations and convenience. We told our party activists that whoever is interested can contest the polls. Besides, it’s a known fact that the influence of money and police also plays a larger role in such elections as the number of voters in some villages will be less than 100”, the TRS leader said.
The cooperative elections had got nothing to do with the Telangana issue and that was the reason why the party had not taken them seriously. It was completely wrong to see these elections in the Telangana perspective, he stated.
