Shortage of water resources and absence of uninterrupted power supply are forcing the irrigation officials to stop water release for an extent of 46,450 hectares in the upland area during the Rabi season. After attending a video conference with Chief Secretary Minnie Mathews, Collector Neetu Prasad on Wednesday made it clear that the officials were not at all responsible for any crop loss of paddy during the Rabi season, as it was not possible to release sufficient water. She advised the paddy farmers from other parts of the district to opt for SRI and modified SRI mode of cultivation, so that they could save water to some extent.
