The Water Board is trying to escape responsibility for inadvertently damaging the power cables sending the city into spells of darkness last night.

Board officials on Saturday maintained that a requisition letter was duly sent to the local Assistant Divisional Engineer, APCPDCL seeking coordination during the excavation work. But the 132 KV line actually comes under the purview of the chief engineer, Transco. “The AD obviously did not inform the right authorities”, said Vijay Rao, general manager, Division VII, HMWSSB.

However, Board's director (Technical), S.P. Sharma, said the damage occurred as the exact position of the power cables was not known.
