The Water Board spent Rs. 4.78 crore towards providing water supply and sewerage amenities in Bholakpur area in May 2009 following outbreak of acute diarrheal diseases. The Board executed water supply works to a tune of Rs. 1.33 crore and sewerage works to a tune of Rs. 3.45 crore.

Reacting to a report in these columns, the Water Board said the government sanctioned Rs. 12 crore and the HMWSSB and GHMC formulated comprehensive proposals for improvement of water supply, sewerage, storm water drains and re-carpeting of roads.

“The special grant was not exclusively for HMWSSB. It was for both HMWSSB and GHMC for improvement of total civic amenities”, a press release clarified.
