Bhongir Congress members question their loyalty, style of functioning

A section of Congress leaders from Nalgonda district have declared a full-scale war against the style of functioning of Komatireddy brothers and accused them of waiting for an opportunity to defect to YSR Congress in the near future.

At a meeting of the Bhongir Parliamentary constituency on Wednesday, majority speakers were highly critical of the actions of former Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and his brother and Bhongir MP Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy.

Party seniors including Rajya Sabha member Palvai Goverdhan Reddy, former Minister R. Damodar Reddy, Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council Nethi Vidyasagar and Alair MLA Bhikshmaiah Goud launched scathing attacks on the Komatireddy brothers.

Defecting to YSRC

Mr. Goverdhan Reddy in particular accused the two brothers of preparing the ground to join YSR Congress after benefiting from the Congress government’s largesse including bagging contracts in the last few years. He said the Bhongir MP in particular had not even taken the primary membership of Congress party but bagged the ticket at the behest of late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

He said the two brothers were creating confusion in the rank and file of the Congress party by making controversial statements. He went to the extent of demanding that unless the two leaders were shown the door, Congress fortunes would not be revived. Mr. Bhikshamaiah Goud wondered why the Komatireddy brothers were reacting in a huff whenever Congress leaders spoke about fence-sitters.

Interestingly, Mr. Damodar Reddy, who has been keeping aloof from party activities after raising the bogey of a separate Telangana also made his presence obvious to stake the claim for Nalgonda Parliamentary constituency ticket in the next elections for his son R. Sarvotham Reddy.
