Justice Rohini of the A.P High Court directed K. Sasidhar, vice-chairman, Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA), to explain why he should not be punished under contempt of Courts Act for his alleged violation orders of the court pertaining to land in Kotha Venkojipalem, Vishakhapatam. The case arose when a letter sent by him said “not to implement” the high courts orders.
Kalla Venkat Rao of Kotha Venkojiplaem had filed a writ petition before the High Court contending that the VUDA and others are interfering with the possession of his property. After hearing the government and the VUDA, Justice Rohini directed VUDA not to interfere with the property, except by due process of law.
When the VUDA had begun construction activity in that land, Venkat Rao approached the VUDA and K. Sasidhar passed orders. In the subject, the proceedings mentioned “not to implement the Hon’ble High Court orders”. Venkat Rao approached High Court and sought to implead Sasidhar in the contempt case.
Justice Rohini ordered impleading the VUDA vice-chairman and directed him to file counter affidavit explaining the statements in his order and ordered status quo. The case will be listed on September 12.
