NELLORE: The Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) has to face a big challenge in conducting the examinations strictly.
About 110 colleges, including degree, PG, law, professional, B.Ed. and oriental colleges will come under VSU from this academic year. Even as the private college managements thought that the process of handing over the colleges to the new universities will take a few years due to less faculty and poor infrastructure facilities, the government recently issued a G.O. empowering the new universities with affiliating status.
The SVU which was monitoring the functioning of the colleges for the past five decades did not succeeded in conducting the examinations strictly and several malpractice cases, including teachers abetting copying and irregularities in spot valuation incidents surfaced in the recent past. Recently, the State government ordered an enquiry into allegations that Anam Subhakar Reddy, son of Municipal Administration Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy was involved in malpractice while appearing for degree exams. The student union leaders circulated the duplicate copies of the answer sheet allegedly scripted by Mr.Subhakar Reddy and the case is under enquiry.
In another incident, the DKW College management caught an impersonator, D.Pullaiah, while correcting degree answer papers. Following the reports in the media, the SVU ordered an enquiry into the incident.
The VSU-SVU managements on Sunday arranged a meeting with the principals/correspondents of affiliated colleges which are coming into VSU fold. Officials of both the old and new universities will attend.
