Vizianagaram, Srikakulam register 94 p.c. polling

Polling for election to MLC (Teachers’ Constituency) in Vizianagaram was peaceful. The process began at 8 a.m. at all the 36 polling stations on a brisk note and registered 30 per cent at 10 a.m., 65 per cent at 12 noon and 94.36 per cent at close.

The total number of votes polled out of 3,723 was 3,514 (Vizianagaram division: 2,070 votes polled out of 2,215 and in Parvathipuram division: 1,444 out of 1,508).

The live webcast of polling process has made monitoring trouble-free for in-charge Collector P.A. Sobha. She said that online monitoring process was made feasible due to coordination between

BSNL, Transco and NIC officials. V.N. Vishnu, election observer, appreciated in-charge Collector for conducting the polling peacefully in the district.

Polling for the MLC election went off peacefully in all the 39 polling centres in Srikakulam district, according Srikakulam District Revenue Officer Nur Bhasha Khasim.

As many as 4,338 voters of 4,661 voters (94 per cent) exercised their franchise in the election process. Contesting candidates and their supporters visited the polling centres and said they were satisfied with the arrangements.
