Collector to receive the award from the President

The district has won award at the national level in the implementation of MGNREGP. District Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah will receive it from the President at the MGNREGS convention to be held on February 2. After unfurling the national flag at Police Grounds here on Thursday, the Collector read out progress report on various welfare and developmental activities in the district. He said the rare achievement was possible due to the cooperation of officials, elected representatives, and voluntary organisations. He thanked them for it and appealed to extend similar cooperation in future too.

The Collector said that the district ranked first in the State in controlling the spread of AIDS. A dialysis unit would be opened under the government-private partnership at headquarters hospital.

He said proposals to set up major and medium industries at a cost of Rs. 1,349.50 crore was submitted to the government. Later, he gave away merit certificates to 331 officials and employees of various departments and distributed assets worth Rs. 17crores.

SP hoists flag

At the Police Welfare English Medium School, Superintendent of Police Karthikeya hoisted the national flag and taught morals to children of the police personnel. His wife Richa gave away prizes to winners of various competitions.

At ITDA, Parvathipuram, Project Officer Suvarna Panda Das unfurled the tricolour and appealed to employees to work with dedication.

He was happy with the measures taken this year to control malaria. He said efforts were being made to maintain uniform standards of education in all schools in the Agency region.

At Sainik School, Korukonda, Principal Murali unfurled the national flag and inspected parade of the cadets. The day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at all private, public, trade and commerce, and educational institutions in the district.
