VISAKHAPATNAM: Starting from Visakhapatnam, the City of Destiny, and reaching Mumbai, the City of Dreams, while connecting important towns and cities en route, the Visakhapatnam-Mumbai bi-weekly express train (No. 2749), the introduction of which has been an important demand of the people in these parts for long, became a reality on Wednesday when Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development D. Purandeswari flagged it off at the Visakhapatnam station on Wednesday.

It connects the East with the West. Its journey time is 26 hours, as against the journey time of 30 hours for other express trains.

The total number of coaches is 18, which includes AC 2-tier AC 3-tier besides general bogies with 688 sleeper berths and sitting accommodation for 600 passengers.

It also provides superfast link for Vizagites to Secunderabad. It departs Visakhapatnam at 9 a.m. every Wednesday and Saturday and reaches Secunderabad at 21 hours. It will reach Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai) at 11.05 a.m. the next day.

The train will halt at Rajahmundry, Tanuku, Bhimavaram, Akividu, Gudivada, Vijayawada, Kazipeta, Secunderabad, Vikarabad, Wadi, Solapur and Pune.
