Employees of Vizag Steel win the The Hindu Business Line Hyderabad round quiz
Do you know which group bought the Hyderabad IPL team Deccan Chargers? Can you name the Bollywood actress who is the brand ambassador of Dabur’s Odonil, now having tag line ‘ab banega har pal special’? Which Kolkata-based paint and varnish company was founded in 1902 by Turner, Morrison and Company?
These were few of the questions which employees from corporate companies faced in the Hyderabad round of The Hindu Business Line corporate quiz – Cerebration – held at The Golconda Hotel here on Thursday. Quiz master Giri ‘Pickbrain' Balasubramanian took six teams through six rounds in which two employees from Vizag Steel -- J. Rahul and A.G.K. Murthy emerged victorious.
“It’s a fantastic win. We played to best of our abilities and won the contest,” an elated Mr. Rahul said. He and his colleague actually won without much difficulty. “We used to read The Hindu and The Business Line newspapers regularly to keep abreast of the developments and this initiative helped us in gaining confidence,” Mr. Rahul explained.
While he is working as an Assistant General Manager (HRD), Mr. Murthy is an Assistant General Manager (Mechanics). They will be participating in the national finals to be held in Mumbai on January 26. Employees from Reckitt Benckiser Company - Soubhagya Jena and Praveen Paul were the runner-ups.
Of the 38 teams which participated in the prelims, six teams - two each representing from the Vizag Steels, Reckitt Benckiser, Novatris, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and Sai Mitra Constructions got into the final round.
The Hindu Business Line Hyderabad Chief of Bureau M. Somasekhar presented prizes to the winners and runner-ups. Corporation Bank Zonal Head D. Purnachander Rao and Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Branch Manager M.J.K. Mohan were present. Corporation Bank, SAIL and NCDEX sponsored the event and The Golconda Hotel was hospitality partner. Raymond Weil, Lawrence and Mayo, and AppTab were the gift sponsors.
