Aid to maintain hygieneSrikakulam: The Chennai-based Ramco Group donated 180 bags of bleaching powder and 1.5 lakh chlorine tablets, all worth Rs. 21 lakh, to help hygiene and sanitation in flood affected areas in the district. Medicines worth Rs.50,000 would also be given, according to representative, K.Venkateswara Rao. The material was handed through the minister for revenue and relief, D.P. Rao on Monday. In Vizianagaram, 120 bleaching powder bags and one lakh chlorine tablets were given, according to Mr. Rao.

Dharna seeking ban on cola drinksKakinada: Students under the aegis of AIYF and AISF took out a rally on Tuesday demanding a ban on Pepsi and Coca-Cola.

They wanted the banning of all aerated drinks of MNCs and encourage local industries.

They gave a call to patronise tender coconut water instead of cola drinks. AIYF district convenor T. Madhu, AISF city secretary Pallamraju, AIYF district leaders Pothu Chinababu, Subrahmanyam and Ramana led the rally. Correspondent
