Aim is to spread the teachings of Swami Vivekananda

The Ramakrishna Mission will organise Vivek Walk and Vivekananda Rath Yatra in the city to spread the teachings of Swami Vivekananda on national integration, peace, and harmony in February, in connection with the 150{+t}{+h}birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Over 20,000 students will take part in the Rath Yatra once it reaches the city on February 20 from Hyderabad.

Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, former ISRO Chairman Kasturi Rangan, and actor Venkatesh will take part.

A public meeting will be held near Kali temple the same day.

The Ramakrishna Mission will present mementos to 150 eminent persons of the city on the occasion.

‘Prachar Vahini’

At a meeting here on Thursday, Visakha West MLA Malla Vijay Prasad released the mementos of Vivekananda. He also flagged off the ‘Vivekananda Rath Yatra Prachar Vahini’ vehicle.

The vehicle will go to every school and college to motivate youth to participate in the yatra. In all, 150 volunteers, along with 50 from Veerumama’s V-team, will visit the educational institutions.

The yatra will go as a convoy from RK Beach to Alluri Sitarama Raju statue near Park Hotel.

Swami Guneshananda of Ramakrishna Mission and Naresh Kumar, CEO of Symbiosys Technologies, said a walkathon named Vivek Walk would be organised on February 3.
