HYDERABAD: A visually-challenged student of ninth standard died after an APSRTC bus hit him while he was walking across the Shivaji bridge in Afzalgunj on Monday.
The victim Mohd. Mudassi Hashmi, 15, was the son of a constable Munawar Hashmi. Hashmi was studying in a school for the visually-challenged located at Darulshifa. Around 6 p.m., Hashmi and two other students were walking across the bridge when a bus belonging to Parigi depot knocked him down.
A case of rash and negligent act was booked against the driver.

Meanwhile, road accidents claimed eight lives in the past two days. Two railway employees, Venkataswamy, 35, and Shaik Abdul Raheem, 29, died on Tuesday when an RTC bus hit the scooter they were riding near Lalaguda railway engineering workshop. A student Venkatakrishna Goud, 19, died on Monday night when he the motorcycle he was riding rammed into a parked lorry on the Hyderabad-Nizamabad highway near Kompally. A mason M. Yadaiah, 45, of Premavathipet died on the spot when a van hit the bicycle he was riding at Budvel. An autorickshaw driver K. Srinivasa Chary, 50, died when an unidentified vehicle hit the three-wheeler he was driving near Gachchibowli. K. Venkatramanamma, 58, who was hit from behind by a motorcyclist died at the Osmania General Hospital. A trader Mohd. Shakeel, 30, who sustained injuries after the two-wheeler he was riding skidded near Moghalpura two days ago, died while undergoing treatment. A motorcyclist N. Raju, 40 succumbed to his injuries at the Gandhi Hospital .
