The Janapriya Gana Sabha condoled the death of world-famous violinist M.S. Gopalakrishnan here on Saturday.
Sabha founder president V. Harihar Rao and secretary V.L. Narasimha Rao expressed their deep sympathies to the family and recalled their memories with the great torch-bearer of Parur tradition.
“We invited him to the Thyagaraja aradhanostav and he gave a three-hour non-stop concert on March 30, 1985, at Kakatiya Medical College auditorium with Yella Venkateswar Rao on mridangam,” Mr. Narasimha Rao, a veteran journalist recalled.
“It was a spell binding concert and we all still cherish those memories. We are sad to know of his demise”, Sabha members said.
MCG was equally at ease in playing Hindustani, both solo and as an accompanist, Mr. Narasimha Rao pointed out.
