Police beef up security around government offices and important installations
WARANGAL: Tense situation prevails across the district with agitations demanding separate Telangana continuing on the fourth day and minor incidents of violence marked the day.
Unknown assailants set ablaze vehicle belonging to Mines & Geology Department at Bhavani Nagar in Hanamkonda and some TRS activists pelted stones at the APSRTC bus in Cheriyal mandal.
The students at the Kakatiya University campus continued their relay hunger strike and staged ‘rasta roko’ on the main road leading to Karimnagar.
They burnt the effigies of Chief Minister K. Rosaiah and senior Congress leader J. C. Diwakar Reddy protesting his remarks against the TRS leaders. Volatile situation prevailed in the campus even as the police continued to keep a vigil to prevent the students from coming out of the campus.
Protests, relay hunger strikes and demonstrations were held across the district while the advocates at Parkal, Narasampet and other towns struck work and launched relay hunger strike.
The police had tough time with the agitators. They virtually chased the Warangal West MLA D. Vinay Bhaskar to arrest him since dawn on Wednesday. After making several attempts, they finally took him into custody to contain the agitation from spreading. Late in the night, unknown miscreants set ablaze Warangal town MRO office in which some election material was reportedly damaged. Following the incident, the district police beefed up the security around government offices, important installations and at the residences of Congress leaders.
Bus set ablaze

In Dharmaram village of Konaraopeta mandal, some unidentified persons set fire to the BSNL tower equipment demanding the formation of Telangana State. They also left a note at the site in the name of naxalites belonging to Telangana Prathigana group.
An RTC bus was set fire in Ambala village of Kamalapur mandal by suspected leaders belonging to TRS. Some persons had also tried to set fire to the MPDO office in Manakondur mandal in the wee hours of Wednesday. In Sircilla town, the protestors broke glass panes of a car belonging to a private doctor.
In the meantime, the TRS district unit leaders led by MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao and others participated in relay hunger strike programme in front of Collectorate here. Similarly, the students of Satavahana University set fire to an effigy belonging to the government demanding the formation of Telangana state at the earliest.
