Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Monday arrested Executive Officer of Medchal village, Narahari, and his friend, Narsimha Reddy, when they allegedly received Rs. 1.7 lakh bribe from a person.
The accused officer demanded the bribe from one Ram Reddy, to issue permission for construction of a house, ACB Additional SP N. Chandrashekhar said. Narahari allegedly demanded Rs. 5 lakh to process the application for issuing permission, but agreed to accept Rs. 1.7 lakh.
When Ram Reddy went to Narahari’s office with the bribe amount, he was asked to come to a restaurant in Bowenpally. Narahari came there along with his friend Narsimha Reddy, who collected the amount. “After receiving the bribe through his friend, Narahari signed the papers and issued permission,” the Additional SP said. Narahari and his friend tested positive when subjected to a chemical test. They would be produced before a special court on Tuesday.
