HYDERABAD: Congress MP V. Hanumantha Rao has criticised a Telugu daily, Sakshi, owned by ruling party MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy for being critical of the government.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said he wondered how the paper, which carries the photograph of late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on its masthead, continued to write negative stories about the government's welfare programmes.
“Such reports affect the morale of the Congress cadres,” he said.
He said if the daily carried some positive reports, it would benefit the Congress in the 2014 elections.
Mr. Rao said he met Chief Minister K. Rosaiah seeking his cooperation in getting him extension to the Rajya Sabha as his terms ends in June.
On the allegations levelled by Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao against corrupt Ministers in Mr. Rosaiah's Cabinet, Mr. Hanumantha Rao said it was a dispute between two politicians of Guntur district.
